East London has one of the most varied event venue landscapes in the city. You have the glass-and-steel conference centres around Canary Wharf and the Olympic Park, the converted warehouses and railway arches of Shoreditch and Hackney, the rooftop spaces in Bethnal Green and Bermondsey, and everything in between.
Each of those venue types comes with different AV considerations. A Canary Wharf conference suite has different acoustics, power supply, and loading logistics than a Victorian warehouse in Hackney. Knowing those differences before you arrive on the day matters.
We work across East London regularly. This page covers the areas we cover, the venue types we commonly work in, and what to know before booking AV for an East London event.

Shoreditch and Hackney
This is the highest concentration of creative event venues in London. Converted warehouses, railway arch spaces, old print works, gallery spaces, and purpose-built studio venues populate the area between Old Street and the Hackney border.
These venues look great. They also come with specific AV challenges that purpose-built conference centres do not have.
Acoustics. Brick walls, concrete floors, and high ceilings are the acoustic signature of most Shoreditch and Hackney warehouse venues. They produce a lot of reverberation. A PA system that sounds clear in a carpeted hotel suite sounds boomy and indistinct in a raw industrial space. The right speaker selection and positioning for the room makes a significant difference. A site visit beforehand is worth doing.
Power. Older industrial buildings often have limited or awkwardly distributed power. Single-phase supplies in odd locations, no dimmer circuit, and load limits that affect what AV equipment can run simultaneously are common. Confirming the power supply with the venue before we arrive saves problems on the day.
Loading. Many East London warehouse venues are on narrow streets with restricted van access. Some have goods lifts that are too small for larger flight cases. Others require equipment to be carried up stairs. We account for this in our planning but it needs to be checked venue by venue.
Noise restrictions. Several Shoreditch venues have strict noise limiters, particularly in venues adjacent to residential buildings. If your event involves amplified music or a band, the noise limiter level is something your AV company needs to know about before they design the sound system.
Canary Wharf and the Docklands
The Canary Wharf area has a dense collection of corporate event venues. Hotel conference suites, private dining rooms, financial institution event spaces, and purpose-built meeting facilities all sit within a compact geography.
These venues are generally straightforward from an AV perspective. They have good power, level loading access, and adequate ceiling height for rigging. The main considerations are:
- Some venues have preferred supplier arrangements or require AV companies to be pre-approved
- Underground venues and basement spaces can affect wireless microphone signal if the building construction is dense
- Canary Wharf has strict rules around vehicle access and parking near most estate buildings
For Canary Wharf office events specifically, see our dedicated post on AV for Canary Wharf events which covers the specific venue landscape in more detail.
Stratford and the Olympic Park
The area around Stratford station and the Olympic Park has developed significantly into a major events destination. The Copper Box, the Velodrome, Here East, and a growing number of hotels and conference venues sit within the park and immediate surroundings.
These are generally large-scale venues designed for significant events. AV requirements in this area tend toward larger PA systems, LED walls, and full production crew rather than simple conference setups. The venues have good logistics, wide loading access, and the infrastructure for significant technical productions.
Event types we commonly handle in East London
Across East London the event types vary significantly by area. In Shoreditch and Hackney, brand events, product launches, creative industry conferences, and fashion and lifestyle events are common. In Canary Wharf the focus is corporate: conferences, seminars, client events, and financial sector gatherings. In Stratford the scale is bigger: large conferences, sporting and entertainment events, and public-facing productions.
We cover all of these. The AV setup varies by event type, not by location. See our full services page for a breakdown of what we supply across different formats.
East London has some of the best event venues in the city. It also has some of the trickiest AV logistics. Knowing what you are working with before the day makes a material difference.
What to tell us when you enquire
When you contact us about an East London event, the things that help us respond quickly with an accurate quote are:
- The venue name and address
- The type of event and the rough programme format
- Expected number of guests
- What AV you think you need (we will tell you if something is missing or unnecessary)
- Whether you need crew on site or just equipment delivery
- Date and access times
If you are not sure what you need, that is fine too. Tell us the event type, the venue, and roughly what you want to achieve. We will come back with a recommendation and a quote based on that.
Common questions
Do you cover all of East London?
Yes. We cover all East London postcodes including E1, E2, E3, E8, E9, E14, E15, E20 and surrounding areas. Our London warehouse means we can reach any East London venue efficiently with equipment and crew.
Do you know the East London venue scene?
Yes. We have worked across East London venues regularly, from converted warehouses in Shoreditch to conference facilities in Canary Wharf and the Olympic Park area. We understand the quirks of East London venues including loading access, noise restrictions, and power supply limitations in older industrial buildings.
Can you do a site visit to an East London venue before the event?
Yes, and for complex events we recommend it. A site visit lets us check the room acoustics, power supply, loading access, and any venue restrictions before the event day. It takes an hour and saves significantly more time on the day itself.
Need AV hire in East London?
Tell us the venue, the event, and what you need. We will come back quickly with a clear quote.
